Coptic Journal with Sub Chapter Signatures

This Coptic sewn book is my own design. I needed a journal that would allow me to fill the pages with found objects and expand as it grew. A traditional Coptic book became fat and bulging when affixing postcards and other found objects to its pages. With eight traditional signatures that each holds 3 smaller signatures, I was able to create extra space between pages to allow the book to grow pleasantly stout with additions after creation. This is my example of how bookmaking is as technical as it is creative. Thinking through structures is a great joy of the bookmaking process.
